Liability Waiver, Release & Assumption of Risk
Effective May 20, 2026
Read this document carefully. By booking the field, joining a pickup game, or otherwise participating in any activity at UPlay Indoor Soccer ("UPlay"), located at 7501 Ranco Rd, Richmond, VA 23228, you ("Participant") accept this Waiver. Parents or legal guardians accept it on behalf of any minor in their care.
1. Assumption of risk
Participant understands that soccer is a fast-moving contact sport played on an artificial surface, and that physical activity at the facility carries inherent risks, including but not limited to:
- Sprains, strains, fractures, and other musculoskeletal injuries from running, kicking, collisions, or falls;
- Head injuries, including concussion;
- Heat exhaustion or dehydration;
- Cardiac events triggered by exertion;
- Cuts, abrasions, dental damage, and bruising;
- Communicable illness from shared surfaces or close contact with other players.
Participant voluntarily and knowingly assumes all such risks, whether or not specifically listed here, that arise from participation at the facility.
2. Release of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Virginia law, Participant hereby releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue UPlay Indoor Soccer, its owners, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, sponsors, landlords, and affiliates (the "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action arising from any loss, damage, illness, or injury to Participant or Participant's property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise.
3. Indemnification
Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) brought by Participant or by any third party arising from Participant's use of the facility, including injuries to other players caused by Participant's conduct.
4. Medical authorisation
Participant authorises UPlay staff to summon emergency medical care if needed, and agrees that Participant (or Participant's insurance) is solely responsible for any resulting medical bills. Participant represents that Participant is in good physical condition and has no medical condition that would make participation dangerous. If Participant is uncertain, Participant agrees to consult a physician before playing.
5. Rules of play
Participant agrees to:
- Wear flat-soled turf shoes or sneakers — no metal cleats, no street shoes;
- Remove all jewellery, watches, and hard accessories before playing;
- Refrain from slide tackles, hanging on goals, or any other unsafe play;
- Follow all instructions from UPlay staff;
- Not enter the playing area while intoxicated or under the influence of unlawful substances.
6. Property
UPlay is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property left at the facility, including in unlocked storage cubbies.
7. Photography & recording
Participant grants UPlay permission to photograph or record Participant's image and likeness while at the facility, and to use those images for marketing and community purposes. Participant may opt out by notifying staff on arrival.
8. Severability
If any provision of this Waiver is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable.
9. Governing law & venue
This Waiver is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any dispute arising from it will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Henrico County, Virginia.
10. Acknowledgement
Participant has read this Waiver, understands its terms, understands that it is a release of liability and contract between Participant and UPlay, and signs (or accepts electronically during booking) freely and voluntarily.
